Featured Printmaker

Henryk Krolikowski is a printmaker, photographer and digital artist based in Poland. His work is inspired by the human body, and he utilizes graphic strokes and mark-making in his linocuts.

What was your first experience of printmaking?

The first was the drawing, soon after I started to use a monotype.

What inspires you as an artist?

The main inspiration for me is the world of nature, especially human.

What are you working on at present?

Now I made digital graphics of people traveling and put them on the bus intercity.

What is special about printmaking?

Art allows the artist to show his version of the world. A printmaking has some its own charm. I do not know what but some must have if many people is doing it.

What is your favourite printmaking process, and why?

In general, I like to deal with traditional graphics. But I especially like the linocut. This is a technique where I feel that I have control at all even the smallest point on the matrix.

What prompted you to take part in the International Print Exchange?

I like the idea of exchange. This is a good opportunity to see the others are doing and have a few of original prints.

What is your favourite colour?

I only use black.

What is your favourite paper and ink?

I use Fabriano 5 paper and ordinary offset ink.

What kind of music do you listen to whilst printmaking?

Usually at work I listening to the radio.

Who is your favourite printmaker?

I can not say about one person, there are many prints of various authors, which I appreciate.
